The Caper – March 2022 Edition

It’s celebration time in the Cape. In Beau’s Presidential message, he discusses the long and hard fought beach project at sites 1 & 2. The work is done. D.O.N.E. It’s a joyous time indeed. In his message, he lays out many of things it took to get us to completion. From all of the grants we applied for, to the financing, to all of the men and women who came together and worked so hard to make it all happen, his message has it all. You don’t want to miss it.

In Ryan’s message, he wants to let us know that the maintenance fees were due on March 1st. If you haven’t paid by now, you will owe a late fee. The first round of portable restrooms will be delivered to the Cape Beach and Parks around March 18th. CSCIA is also recruiting for seasonal beach attendants. Applicants must be 14 or older and available primarily on the weekends and holidays from Memorial Day to Labor day weekend. More information is found in this month’s Caper.

In community news, the Escape through the Cape 5K will return on April 30th, for more information on this great event, see this month’s caper. At Goshen Farm, Roy Benner was honored to receive the Eagle Scout Mentor pin from Scout Liam Doyen and his father William. He will wear this symbol of guidance to a young leader. The Garden Club has their IN PERSON plant sale at the clubhouse field coming up on Saturday May 14th from 8am to 2pm. Check out their blog (and this month’s Caper) for more details. The Cape Community Swap will be held on Sunday April 3rd from 10am to 2pm. There’s a $2 entrance fee per family for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. More details on what you can bring are in this Caper.

In Cape Conservation Corps news, April 6th from 5-7 is Weed Warriors (and every Wednesday through October) and on April 8th, they will have the Serene Ravine Open House and sign reveal. Note your calendars for their native plant sale on May 14th.

Don’t forget that the Easter Bunny is coming to the Cape on Saturday April 9th at 11am at the main beach. Tickets may be obtained from WHIMSICALITY in the CSC Shopping Center – beginning March 9th during regular business hours (11:00 AM until 6:00 PM) Monday thru Saturday and Sunday (12-4pm).
