The Caper – May 2022 Edition
Despite the chilly temperatures in April, it actually was a normal month. That probably sounds crazy to those who wondered why mother’s nature had been so cranky. That coldness to the air continues to linger into May. Yet, despite the weather, things have been interesting around the Cape. Beau, in his Presidential message, he talks about the stranded ship in the Chesapeake. Everyone is just glad that there was no long term environmental damage. He also gives a friendly reminder to check the beach policies and make sure you have your new sticker on your vehicles. They were due May 1st. Lastly, the call for volunteers is great. Between the Strawberry Festival, Weed Warrior Wednesday, volunteering with the CSC Volunteer Fire Company, Goshen Farm, the CSCIA board or the Garden Club, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer around the Cape.
Ryan, in his Town Manager message, gives a pleasant reminder to slow down while driving through the neighborhoods as children are at play. He also provides great tips for managing your yard. Don’t forget that the next quarterly membership meeting is schedule for Tuesday July 26th at 7:30pm at the clubhouse.
In community news, Goshen Farm is hosting their Goshen Farm Family Days on Saturday May 14th and 21st from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. There will be face painting, arts & crafts, science experiments, music, games, prizes and more. This year they are raffling 2 lifetime charger 10ft kayaks. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased online at https://www.goshenfarm.org or at one of their other events.
In Cape Conservation Corps news, May 7th is their native plant swap pickup from 9-11am. Mark your calendars for September 17th and their native plant fest and sale from 9-12pm… (date could change) Stacey Wildberger has a great article in this month’s Caper about the importance of volunteers… so desperately needed. Don’t miss it.
The Garden Club is hosting their plant sale on Saturday May 14th from 8am – 2pm. For more information on this great event, see this month’s Caper or visit their website.
This May issue also has the Strawberry Festival forms for those still interested in participating. Don’t forget that this AMAZING event takes place on Saturday June 4th, 2022.
