The May 2016 Caper is now online!
April showers have brought May showers. While we can’t seem to kick the clouds and rain, mother nature said she plans on clearing the skies by the time June 4th rolls around. The Strawberry Festival executive team is working overtime to make the 2016 Strawberry Festival the best one yet.
If you haven’t heard, the Berry Bus Stops will help to relieve congestion by picking people up at designated spots throughout the Cape. The new Caper has a map for you to hold onto or you can use the image right here. This Caper edition also contains all of the forms you might need for the Festival. You can also visit the website.
This issue contains a major update on the Beach Restoration project that was announced some time ago. In community news, The Garden Club is having their plant sale on May 14th and Cape Conservation Corps is having their community tours today (May 7th) so head over to their website to get the information.
Lastly, don’t forget about mosquito prevention. Page 7 has some great information on the way we can all help to keep the tiger mosquito at bay this year.

The April 2016 Caper is now online!
We are desperately searching for Spring but Mother Nature seems intent on putting it off for a few more weeks. Still, we can get into the mood by reading the new Caper for April which has the usual springtime goodness.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for June 4th 2016, which is the date of the next Cape St. Claire Strawberry Festival. 10am sharp from the CSC Firehouse.
More springtime activities coming up are the Cape Fun Run which is on Saturday, April 16th. Click this link for more details on this great family event. In addition, on April 23rd, the Spring Goshen Farm Open House will take place. See this issue for more details on these and other great springtime events.

The March 2016 Caper is now online!
Spring is finally in the air and soon the Cape will start to blossom and bloom with its colors. To kick this great season off, we’ve got a jam packed issue of the Caper. You can grab it early online but expect this full sized novel to arrive in your mailboxes soon. Scott Dembowski, the President of CSCIA, has a great message of thanks for all of us. The Strawberry Festival plans are in full swing. Don’t forget to Save the Date of Saturday, June 4th. More details on all of the events, for what we hope will be another record breaking turnout, will be coming in future Capers.
The Easter Egg hunt is Saturday March 19th at 11am. Don’t forget to grab your ticket at Whimsicality. Remember, admission to the event is by ticket only! The cost of the ticket is 1 dozen plastic eggs and 1 bag of individually wrapped candies small enough to fit inside of the eggs.
Garden Club, of course, is getting excited for springtime with their plant sale, set for May 14th. Goshen Farm has a lot of great events coming up, including their Java and Jazz Festival at the Cape Clubhouse on March 13th from 3 to 5pm.

The February 2016 Caper is now online!
The changing of the guard. We’d like to thank Beau for his selfless work during the course of his Presidency over the past year. We’d like to congratulate Scott for taking over the reins. He has some pretty big shoes to fill but we are sure he’ll do fine in the role he’s been in before.
In this issue, Scott’s first presidential message reminds us all of the warmer seasons to come. The blizzard of 2016 certainly laid to waste anybody’s travel plans for a few days. We love the wonders of the Cape, especially when it snows, as it brings everyone together.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Barnhart family for the passing of the Cape’s beloved Elaine. Read some thoughts from several of the Board Members on her passing.
The Easter Bunny is coming to The Cape on Saturday March 19th, 2016 at 11am. Don’t forget to sign your child up using the form in this issue. An update on dingy rack space contracts, a Goshen Farm update, and tons of pictures of the Blizzard of 2016 are all included in this stuffed issue.
The December/January 2015 Caper is now online!
We’ve been double checking the calendar a lot. It says December 17th but judging from the people we’ve seen jogging in shorts, it’s been hard to tell. Last Saturday, we hit a high of 71 which broke the record. After a one day cold snap on Saturday, the temperatures will rebound back into the 60’s next week for Christmas.
We’ll take it. Thank you to mother nature for the early holiday gift.
This is a big edition of The Caper as it contains the ballots for the upcoming year. It’s so important that we hear from the community about the issues we present. For the upcoming year, here’s what you can expect to vote on:
- Voting for candidates for the Board of Governors for four openings.
- Budget committee has two available slots with two nominees who have decided to run.
- You will also be voting for $5.00 increase in the SCBD Fee as explained in the October and November Capers and at our presentation of the budget at the October General Membership Meeting.
- A vote on the budget for fiscal year 2017, which starts July 1st, 2016 is included.
- The proposed change to the by-laws to allow for electronic notification of meetings along with traditional mailing methods, this requires a majority vote of the membership to change our by-laws.
Beau’s message in this issue is important so don’t miss it. This issue is jam packed with news from Goshen Farm and images and information about another successful Breakfast with Santa, which took place last weekend. The rumor was that Santa was wearing shorts. Weird. Information about Christmas worships across the Cape can also be found throughout this issue.
