The September 2017 Caper has arrived!

Seasons come and go and life around the Cape adapts to the cooling winds, the rainfall, and the humid air. As this summer comes to a close, Beau takes a few minutes in his message to reminisce about the Summer of 2017 that was and looks forward to the hopes and hard work of what’s to come. The October Quarterly meeting is right around the corner and that also means pumpkins and kids dressed in their scariest best. I should pause though before I get too far ahead of myself.

Lots of things are happening: We are in the beginning process of looking for a Town Manager. We’ve entered into the design phase of the Main Beach & Lake Claire Beaches improvement project. The kitchen in the clubhouse is about to have a remodel that will knock your socks off. Props to Mary Lamb for making these important upgrades happen. More details can be found in this month’s Caper.

Cape Cleanup is scheduled for Friday October 20th and Saturday October 21st this year so mark your calendars. Goshen Farm has their Open House scheduled for September 16th from 10am to 4pm. There’s important information about this great event inside the new Caper. Look for details about the Caper Calendar Photo Contest happening again this year. Instructions for entering are detailed inside. Halloween Happenings is taking place on October 26th at the Shopping Center for trick or treating and the annual Halloween Festival is on the 28th from 10am to 3pm at the clubhouse. All of the signup information is in this new Caper.

CCC has been busy and will be hosting their first ever Plant Sale on October 7th from 9am to Noon at the CSCIA corral (near the clubhouse) Check out their website and this Caper for more information. November 3rd is CCC’s 3rd Annual Harvest Bash from 7pm to 10pm at the Clubhouse.

The July/August Caper has arrived!

The Cape has been a very busy place. We celebrated the start of summer with the amazing Strawberry Festival. We brought July 4th in with a bang with a great celebration. Residents make us all smile everyday. Their joy and the whole sense of neighborhood. Residents helping others is even more touching when you consider the story from over the weekend and how a group of Broadneck residents saved a man from drowning.

This month’s Caper is a double issue which means it’s double packed with amazing stories and images. Beau’s message is timely and important. Make sure you have your current stickers so you can take advantage of our wonderful beaches. Our Beach Attendants are working hard to keep it an enjoyable place to visit. Don’t forget that airborne fireworks are a no, no here in Maryland. Please refrain from using them for you and your neighbor’s safety.

Now go and grab your web copy now to check it out in all of its colorful beauty.

See you around the Cape!

The June 2017 Caper has arrived!

Happy Birthday, Cape! The 14th marks the 68th anniversary of Cape St. Claire, seems like only yesterday. One only assumes, we’ll have a grand celebration for its 70th. In the meantime, summer is here and with that the Beaches and Parks crew have some friendly reminders for the upcoming season. It’s in Beau’s Presidential message so don’t miss it. He hopes that the Strawberry Festival was a successful one; for those that were there, we know it was.

A giant Thank You to the Garden Club for their work on the clubhouse. The plantings out front sure look swell. CCC has a great article on building hometown habitats and the importance of native plants, don’t miss it. The 4th of July celebration is coming up and there’s lots of information about it in this issue. Let’s all pray for sunshine, the last two years have had weather problems. Enough already.

We hope to see you at the quarterly meeting next month, July 25th at 7:30pm at the clubhouse. In the meantime, see you around the Cape!

The May 2017 Caper

At this time of year, the Cape is a busy place to live. So much to do and so much upcoming. Beau’s message this month talks about the busy schedules and also asks people to reach out to us to help. There are so many great things to volunteer for. Take a look at his message for opportunities and how to contact us. The Strawberry Festival is almost here and we’re all very excited. We are expecting record crowds again and we’ve expanded the Berry Bus Stops a little to account for it. See this issue for full information and sign up forms and a detailed map of the Berry Bus Stops.

Hopefully, many of you have checked out the wonderful plantings being done by the Garden Club at the clubhouse, they’ve done a great job. Don’t forget that the Annual Plant Sale is on May 20th from 8 – 2pm in the field at Broadview Drive and Cape St. Claire. This issue also has a great write up by Goshen Farm on their 2017 Excellence in Education Business award.

Now if only mother nature would get rid of the clouds and bump the thermostat a little, then it would feel like summer is right around the corner… trust us, it is! See you around the Cape.

The February 2017 Caper is here!

In a pretty easy winter, one of the first signs that spring is coming is getting the first Caper of the year. The best reason to view the digital copy is to check out the President’s message with the Valentine’s Day background. In this Presidential message, Beau talks about the election results from January and welcomes the newest members to the 9 person board:

Cheri Fairchild
Neil Macindoe
Jeffrey Roche

Our SCBD fee & cap increase passed by a large margin and we’re excited at the prospect of bringing a Town Manager to the Cape. Beau also provides an update to the Beach Restoration Project, the information is a must read. Don’t miss an informative article about snow removal, the CSCIA board in brief, an update from the Garden Club, Youth Sailing, Cape Conservation Corps, and Goshen. The next Goshen fundraiser is set for Sunday March 12th at 3:00pm at the clubhouse. Check out the details in this issue.

Enjoy the mild weather Capers and see you around the Cape!

The December 2016 / January 2017 Caper has arrived!

It feels like I just posted the February 2016 issue of the Caper only yesterday. Now, it’s the close of another year… and what a year it’s been. The Strawberry Festival was a grand slam home run and the Breakfast with Santa, held only last week, had people overflowing the clubhouse with Christmas Cheer. Driving around the Cape is sure to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. We have all outdone ourselves with the decorations… wow.. bravo to all of you.

Now onto the Caper… Beau really gets personal with us in a great President message this month. Not only does he discuss the ballot points for our meeting in January, he gives a touching thank you and tribute from his time as President. Speaking of ballot, come to the meeting in January, where we all can elect 3 new people to the board and re-elect Jennifer. Also, inline with our previous discussions about the Town Manager, we are asking for a $30 increase to the SCBD fee so we can pay for this valuable position. Don’t forget to review the biographies on page 5 and budget on proceeding pages and fill out your ballots for the January 10th, 2017 meeting.

There’s a great article from Goshen, the Garden Club and the CCC this month and Mary has put together a fantastic Year in Review through images which you CANNOT miss.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year Capers… See you around the Cape.

It's time for the November Caper!

the_caper_november_2016 Mother nature is so confusing. We had lows in the 30’s last weekend and then hit highs in the 80’s over this past weekend. No wonder everyone seems to get sick this time of year. Falling leaves brings budget season. Make sure you review our 2018 budget in this month’s Caper. You’ll be voting on it in the quarterly meeting in January. Now is the time to volunteer! We need more members on the board. Submit your request to run to [email protected]. Our quarterly meeting in October went well. There were great discussions concerning the Town Manager position. We feel that it’s of vital importance for the Cape Community moving forward. See this month’s Caper for more details.
Mark your calendars for December 10th, 2016 to have Breakfast with Santa. See the order form inside this month’s Caper for more details on this great event. It’s not too late to grab the tickets to the Cape Conservation Corp’s Harvest Bash which is this Friday at the clubhouse from 7-11pm. See this month’s Caper or visit their website for more information.
Beau’s Presidential message runs through everything else going on. As a Cape resident, it’s required reading. So many important things going on and we need your help to do it all. Stay safe while out getting as much candy as you can tonight.
See you around the Cape!
