The June 2017 Caper has arrived!

Happy Birthday, Cape! The 14th marks the 68th anniversary of Cape St. Claire, seems like only yesterday. One only assumes, we’ll have a grand celebration for its 70th. In the meantime, summer is here and with that the Beaches and Parks crew have some friendly reminders for the upcoming season. It’s in Beau’s Presidential message so don’t miss it. He hopes that the Strawberry Festival was a successful one; for those that were there, we know it was.

A giant Thank You to the Garden Club for their work on the clubhouse. The plantings out front sure look swell. CCC has a great article on building hometown habitats and the importance of native plants, don’t miss it. The 4th of July celebration is coming up and there’s lots of information about it in this issue. Let’s all pray for sunshine, the last two years have had weather problems. Enough already.

We hope to see you at the quarterly meeting next month, July 25th at 7:30pm at the clubhouse. In the meantime, see you around the Cape!

The May 2017 Caper

At this time of year, the Cape is a busy place to live. So much to do and so much upcoming. Beau’s message this month talks about the busy schedules and also asks people to reach out to us to help. There are so many great things to volunteer for. Take a look at his message for opportunities and how to contact us. The Strawberry Festival is almost here and we’re all very excited. We are expecting record crowds again and we’ve expanded the Berry Bus Stops a little to account for it. See this issue for full information and sign up forms and a detailed map of the Berry Bus Stops.

Hopefully, many of you have checked out the wonderful plantings being done by the Garden Club at the clubhouse, they’ve done a great job. Don’t forget that the Annual Plant Sale is on May 20th from 8 – 2pm in the field at Broadview Drive and Cape St. Claire. This issue also has a great write up by Goshen Farm on their 2017 Excellence in Education Business award.

Now if only mother nature would get rid of the clouds and bump the thermostat a little, then it would feel like summer is right around the corner… trust us, it is! See you around the Cape.

The April 2017 Caper has now arrived!

It was a wild finish to March but now that April has arrived and the temperatures have started to rise, we can all declare that spring is officially here. It’s about time. Sometimes, with Spring can come change. For this month, we’ve decided to test a new method of viewing the Caper online. I hope you like it. Whatever your opinion of it is, don’t hesitate to shoot me a message and let me know.

I know that everyone reading this has paid the $10 Lot Maintenance Fee… right? They were due March 1st. Don’t forget the check the Technical Memo by Biohabitats for our Beach Restoration Project. We want your feedback! The Strawberry Festival and 4th of July will be here before you know it. Don’t forget to sign up with the forms included in the Caper or on the Strawberry Festival website.  Don’t miss Beau’s message as he gives a great run down of all of the important activities and reminders upcoming. We need volunteers for the Clubhouse Beautification! Look on page 2 for more details on how to sign up.

The Easter Bunny will be here April 8th! That’s soon! Read more details about it in the Caper and sign up at Whimsicality in the shopping center. The Garden Club’s plant sale will be held on May 20th from 8am – 2pm and Goshen Farm will have their Open House on Saturday April 22nd from 12-5pm.

Don’t miss the Screening for Hometown Habitat movie by Cape Conservation Corp coming up this Friday, April 7th at 6:30. Details are inside this new Caper.

The March 2017 Caper has arrived!

The Winter of 2016/2017 was the winter that wasn’t. Say that 5 times fast. Flowers are blooming early and there has been a lot of people out and about around the Cape. We’ll take it. Beau talks about the warm weather in his Presidential message. With these warm weather, it brings his thoughts on the Marina Slips for 2017 and his discussion on the Beach Restoration Project. Don’t miss his message this month. Don’t forget that the $10 dues were do on March 1st. If you haven’t paid already, hurry!

This Caper is packed full of information about upcoming events. The Garden Club’s annual Plant Sale is scheduled for May 20th. Youth Sailing Club’s registrations are now open. Goshen Farm’s Java and Jazz Tunes fundraiser will be held on March 12th. Details on this inside. In addition, the Easter Bunny will be making his appearance again in the Cape. He will be here on Saturday April 8th, 2107. Information on how to register is inside this issue.

Set your calendars! The Strawberry Festival will be held on Saturday June 3rd. Last year had record crowds. We’re expecting them again this year. More information and a Vendor Registration Form is in this exciting issue.

The February 2017 Caper is here!

In a pretty easy winter, one of the first signs that spring is coming is getting the first Caper of the year. The best reason to view the digital copy is to check out the President’s message with the Valentine’s Day background. In this Presidential message, Beau talks about the election results from January and welcomes the newest members to the 9 person board:

Our SCBD fee & cap increase passed by a large margin and we’re excited at the prospect of bringing a Town Manager to the Cape. Beau also provides an update to the Beach Restoration Project, the information is a must read. Don’t miss an informative article about snow removal, the CSCIA board in brief, an update from the Garden Club, Youth Sailing, Cape Conservation Corps, and Goshen. The next Goshen fundraiser is set for Sunday March 12th at 3:00pm at the clubhouse. Check out the details in this issue.

CSCIA Quarterly Meeting – 1/10/2017

Don’t forget fellow Capers to come to the Clubhouse on Tuesday January 10th 2017 at 7:30 for our quarterly meeting. This time we get to vote on the budget for 2018, a $30 increase in the SCBD, and to vote for your new Cape board members. We are a shrinking bunch (only 6 now) and we need to replenish our numbers. In addition, we have a CSCIA Road update that you won’t want to miss and we’ll setup you up for what 2017 has in store. The December 2016 / January 2017 Caper has arrived!

It feels like I just posted the February 2016 issue of the Caper only yesterday. Now, it’s the close of another year… and what a year it’s been. The Strawberry Festival was a grand slam home run and the Breakfast with Santa, held only last week, had people overflowing the clubhouse with Christmas Cheer. Driving around the Cape is sure to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. We have all outdone ourselves with the decorations… wow.. bravo to all of you.

Now onto the Caper… Beau really gets personal with us in a great President message this month. Not only does he discuss the ballot points for our meeting in January, he gives a touching thank you and tribute from his time as President. Speaking of ballot, come to the meeting in January, where we all can elect 3 new people to the board and re-elect Jennifer. Also, inline with our previous discussions about the Town Manager, we are asking for a $30 increase to the SCBD fee so we can pay for this valuable position. Don’t forget to review the biographies on page 5 and budget on proceeding pages and fill out your ballots for the January 10th, 2017 meeting.

It's time for the November Caper!

the_caper_november_2016 Mother nature is so confusing. We had lows in the 30’s last weekend and then hit highs in the 80’s over this past weekend. No wonder everyone seems to get sick this time of year. Falling leaves brings budget season. Make sure you review our 2018 budget in this month’s Caper. You’ll be voting on it in the quarterly meeting in January. Now is the time to volunteer! We need more members on the board. Submit your request to run to [email protected]. Our quarterly meeting in October went well. There were great discussions concerning the Town Manager position. We feel that it’s of vital importance for the Cape Community moving forward. See this month’s Caper for more details.

It's time for the October Caper!

the_caper_october_2016 Fall has officially arrived and with the fall season comes busy times and great family activities in the Cape. In Beau’s message this month, you’ll get a full update on everything the Board has been working on over the last few weeks and what’s coming up in the future. Goshen’s Annual Harvest dinner will be taking place on October 15th. Look for signup information in this Caper. Mark your calendars for October 27th and 29th! The 27th is the date of the annual shopping center trick or treating. The 29th is the date of the Halloween Happenings by the Strawberry Festival Committee. The Cape is the place to be for all of your fall festival excitement.
